Take my advice at your own risk, I am not a police officer. Source: knowing people who are police officers. The # of people who lie through their teeth on these tests is significantly higher than you think, and being too honest will get you disqualified. Or if it's a 1-5 with 1 being not shy and 5 being extremely shy, I'd put it at 2. I would not put down that you are shy on the test. a anti-social person wouldn't be fit for a police job or corrections job. Some people say that psych tests are designed to test for personality, but not necessarily impacting whether or not you are hired. "I have never lied" "I have never yelled at anyone" "I have never raised my voice". the word "never" are the questions testing your truthfulness. Typically questions involving absolute certainty e.g. If you have a psych interview the interviewer will ask you about it and the correct response is something like "I have in the past and I know it's wrong so it's not something I would do in the future". Everyone has as much as reddit would like to pretend not otherwise. The first question that I can think of that clearly demonstrates this is "I have never told a joke about a women or minority" True/False. Your actual personality is less important than correctly answering certain questions. Secondly, you're spot on that the tests are designed to catch liars. I would wager that the majority of people have thought about suicide, but that question is more or less intended for people who have seriously consider it or thought planned it out. To think that you can accurately predict someone's personality and the way they act from a written test is beyond stupidity considering it's often easy to spot the questions that require lying.
